Planning approval for a data center in north Dublin has been denied by Fingal County Council because there is not enough on-site renewable energy to fuel the development.

Servecentric has been denied planning permission by the council to build a data center at Blanchardstown Corporate Park 2, located in Ballycoolin, Dublin 15.

Because the local authority was not convinced that the proposed development complied with the government policy statement on the "Role of Data Centers in Ireland's Enterprise Strategy 2022," planning permission was denied.

The Fingal Development Plan "would materially contravene," the council decided.
