Ive seen these before, I think there are some built in Africa too.

Why are these places not offered up to refugees?  They could fill them, have decent homes and start a economy there.

The cities were built by the provinces to inflate their GDP in order to get promotions.

They borrowed the money from the state owned banks for huge non-profitable infrastructure projects like these, and were unable to pay when the loans came due, and the debt is becoming a serious burden to the Party. So what do they do, they print more money.

China already has more than enough trouble with Islamic Fundamentalists without bringing even more in.

There is no doubt that the one child policy is now starting to hurt China's economy.  The Chinese population is growing old, and old people don't make economic growth. The Japanese economy has been utterly paralyzed by its aging population.

Affordable Housing Solutions from Ghost Cities

    Presentation to investors

China is building new cities at a rate of 20 per year

70% of these new "ghost cites" are unoccupied.

    Reasons for this include:

A property bubble, meaning that accommodation is overvalued by 30% to 70%

    services, shops and infrastructure

Leisure options and recreational activities of these houses were empty in 2010

The Chinese government has, and continues to actively support these developments to improve China's GDP

Currently, 20% of China's GDP comes from property and development

    BUT...

    trouble is brewing

...and the chinese government has other concerns

And we have Millions of rural residents are moving to established, major cities to look for work.
