A few years ago I created a thread about Fake News, even then it seems the media liked to lie to us and bend the truth.

I think we need a thread that monitors all this fake news so we can discuss and share.

Below is the thread I did back in 2012.

Media hoax? BBC broadcasting Gaza lies?

The British Broadcasting Association appear to have yet again been caught broadcasting pure lies.

In a recent report from them something very strange seems to happen in the video footage from Gaza.

At 2.13 we are shown a man who appears to be badly hurt being caried away by a group of people, however at 2.43 it now shows the man walking around.

At 2.20 we see someone in uniform carrying another man to safety, however it appears the man being carried cant help but smile at the idea of his mate carrying, then they get so far and the man gets off and stands on his own still smiling!

At 2.38 a group of kids run past and hide their heads away as not to be seen on camera and nearly run into our man at 2,13 who is wandering around!

The BBC do have form in reporting hoax media stories, in the past they presented us with this.

On the issue of Fake News it seems the Germans are using this as an excuse to clamp down on Alternative new sites.
Germany threatens to fine social media companies €50m for hate speech and fake news

Germany has threatened severe penalties for companies that fail to crack down on hate speech, illegal content and fake news.
In a crack down on social media companies such as Facebook and Twitter, Germany has proposed levying fines of up to €50 million (£44m) for the failure to remove such posts.

As part of the measures, sites will have to delete offending material within a week and run 24-hour helplines for concerned users. Illegal material, such as racist language, will have have to be removed within 24 hours.

The proposals from Heiko Maas, German justice minister, are significantly greater than previous suggestions to impose €500,000 fines on the companies. They will be part of a bill that will be put to the German Parliament in an effort to combat malicious activity and disinformation campaigns online.

At the moment Facebook removes 39 per cent of flagged content, while Twitter deletes just 1 per cent, according to research released alongside the proposals. It also showed Facebook removes 33 per cent of offending material within 24 hours, and Twitter none.
"It is now clear that we must further increase the pressure on social networks," said Maas. "We need legal regulations to make companies even more obligated to eradicate criminal offences."

The severe measures come amid fears that online hoaxes could influence the German federal elections later this year.

Not fake news but its close sibling trivial news. Lots of unglued media shrieking about the First couple's outfits after their successful visit to the Texas disaster zone.

Still lacking evidence, there's new babble about a cryptic note by Trump associate Manafort when meeting with anti-Putin Russian lawyer with fuh, fuh, fuh, links to duh Kremlin.

Manafort's notes from Russian meeting refer to political contributions
