His people sure as hell loved him
Dumb animal - this is a thread about the War Criminal Sherman. Now back on topic or you will be reported.
A beautiful patriotic ballad sang by US soldiers during World War Two.
It's my opinion that the South fought the war in a gentlemanly fashion and did not engage in wholesale war crimes. Do you have any evidence to the contrary?
The fact that the south fought the war at all is enough to convict them of 600k deaths.
Nonsense. The USA is not a nation like Ireland. It's a union of states - more like the EU. The various states have the right to withdraw from this union.
Whaa whaa. Sound of stamping feet. Mammy mammy those boys are being bold to me!
Dixie was invaded. Now yes the foundation of the United States as such is illegitimate but under it's rules at the time Dixie had every right to separate- I'm sure Tadgh Two can fill you in on the details.
Northern Ireland has a right to exist so. What says ye Ms Catherine?
I believe according to US law the states still have the right to cede from the Union.
"Northern Ireland" is not a state.
And if John Bull should interfere he'll suffer for it truly cos soon the Irish Volunteers would give him Ballyhooly!
The first time I heard this song it was like an electric shock went through my spine, it still causes me tingles;
With pale affright and panic flight
Shall dastard Yankees base and hollow,
Hear a Celtic race, from their battle place,
Charge to the shout of "Faugh-a-ballaugh!"
By the souls above, by the land we love
Her tears bleeding patience
The sledge is wrought that shall smash to naught
The brazen liar of nations.
The Irish green shall again be seen
as our Irish fathers bore it,
A burning wind from the South behind,
and the Yankee rout before it!
O'Neil's red hand shall purge the land-
Rain a fire on men and cattle,
Till the Lincoln snakes in their own cold lakes
Plunge from the blaze of battle."

The smart Irish supported freedom and Dixie

The world would certainly be a better place if the South had won.
Carpetbaggers like some unnamed posters here would quickly learn the Yankee Doodle Dixie Rope Dance.
You mean Southerners used to hang Northern carpetbaggers?
They hanged many's a Negro during those riots.
I think it's a fact that Southern slave owners treated the blacks better than Northern factory owners.
Loyalists and fleggers are staunch supporters of Dixie. Makes sense really.
