Mondragon is a way to run a collection of co-ops, and any third way ideas interesting. Its not necessarily going to solve any problems in Ireland. There are many Irish companies that have some similarities to co-op's, without being run like ones, like giving non/vested shares over a number of years, eg.. profit sharing/buy in, and give good wages. The state does not care about small and medium sized companies. Why would they, its much easier to deal with 10 mega corporations then a 1000 small and medium sized companies. Ten phone calls and the fuckers job is done for the day. You open your doors to globalists, you will get run by politicians that support globalism and so promote monopoly capitalism. Economic nationalism - Wikipedia was the way countries worked in the past, and it took gun boat diplomacy of a colonial powers like the brits to knock down those walls and take what they wanted. The new form of colonialism is globalism, and all they have to do is get the politicians/media on board and open the gates for them.
