    So we know Hamas have promised elections it looks like the PA will be successful and will be the sole representatives of the Palestinians
    What will this mean?
    The two sides can move forward with out the terrorist Hamas in the picture, there will be more aid from Europe(Europe won't deal with Hamas)
    The relationship between the PA and Israel isn't the best but there's a relationship there to be worked on.
    This is the best chance for peace in the region for over a decade
    I believe that the PA and Israel should be supported and encouraged and the focus should be on creating the conditions to take the levels of security out of the lives of the people in the Middle East.
    Imagine how wonderful the region can be if the people were working towards normal things instead of being in a state of conflict, suspicion, fear, and despair.
    I think there are little signs that we will see significant progress and I hope the people will be encouraged and supported on all sides.

    Hamas and Fatah could always agree on their hatred for, and wish to destroy, Israel.

    ...And those Hamas head honchos like electricity 24/7 in their palaces....:rolleyes:

    Nasty old Fatah!!:smiley:

    So you agree that the Zionists made a mistake when they armed and funded Hamas in an attempt to undermine the secular PLO?

    People talk of peace, but those same people can't describe how peace can be achieved, or what peace would look like in geographical terms. This is because of the following fact:

    WE WILL NEVER DIVIDE JERUSALEM OR UPROOT EVEN ONE JEWISH SETTLER

    Netanyahu said this.

    This means no Palestinian state.

    No Palestinian state means continued Apartheid and oppression.

    Israeli propagandists know this.

    They try to sell the notion to those stupid enough to listen that if left alone to their own devices the Israelis and Palestinians will work things out, and there'll be peace.

    But there can never be peace when one totally dominant side is avowed to the continued colonisation of the land of the other.

    Peace - when you hear it being spoken by an Israeli propagandist - is code for buying more colonisation time.

    Leave them alone and they'll sort it out is code for look away while Israel continues to colonize.

    Ultimately, by not agreeing to a separate Palestinian state, the Zionists are ensuring that there will be no Jewish state of Israel in the future.

    Unless they can make life so difficult for them that Palestinians will accept an Israeli pay-off and repatriation to some of the surrounding countries.

    That's what I think they're aiming for.

    Even if that happened, it wouldn't matter in the end. A Jewish state is demographically untenable in that region. The Zionists admit that themselves by bringing in Muslim labour. All the more so given that so many of the Jews actually refuse to work and believe they should be kept by the state.

    I think the last three posts show that that poster hates the notion of peace. It's more important to him, and I believe he's representative of the Irish left, to have conflict and have someone to hate than see people prosper in peace.
    It's really telling that the most significant development in over a decade is practically ignored by the left and they continue to post anti Israeli propaganda by Al Jazeera et al
    AL Jazeera remember are part of the Quatari state apparatus who funded Hamas but our discerning (not) Irish still buy their unbiased reporting.
    Isreal and Palestine are moving in the right direction thankfully

    You'd really have to laugh, wouldn't you.

    I mean the thread starter said this was a good step forward, this reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas.

    Then Netanyahu - who 'needs' obstacles to so-called 'peace', so needs the Palestinians politically split, comes out and condemns the reconciliation the thread starter praised.

    And now, lo and behold, the thread starter has completely changed tac, and rather than criticise the leader of the terrorist state he shills for, for condemning the deal he praised, he joins him in condemning Hamas.

    You just have to laugh. The absurdity of it...

    Hamas and Fatah reconciled in 2014 and then the butcher Netanyahu murdered over 2000 people including 550 children in Gaza.

    I just hope the rage he has shown over this new reconciliation won't lead to him going on another mass-murdering killing spree.

    They are all the same. As soon as Netanyahu make a pronouncement on anything the forums are full of it for weeks until the next one. Not one bit f credibility between the lot of them
    They and he are as changeable as a baby's bottom

    Why are you now condemning an initiative that you praised in your OP?

    Israel always comes up with an excuse as soon as peace might be imminent. Pathetic !!
    From the The Prime Minister's Office
    Security Cabinet Decision
    17/10/2017

    Pursuant to previous decisions, the Government of Israel will not conduct diplomatic negotiations with a Palestinian government that relies on Hamas, a terrorist organization that calls for the destruction of Israel, as long as it does not fulfill the following conditions:

    * Hamas will recognize Israel and desist from terrorism, as per the Quartet conditions;

    * Hamas must be disarmed;

    * IDF fallen and Israeli civilians held by Hamas must be returned;

    * The Palestinian Authority (PA) must exercise full security control in Gaza, including at the crossings, and prevent smuggling;

    * The PA will continue to act against Hamas terror infrastructures in Judea and Samaria;

    * Hamas will sever its ties with Iran; and

    * Funds and humanitarian equipment will continue to flow into Gaza only via the PA and the mechanisms that have been established for this purpose.

    How ironic - given that it was the Zionists who armed and funded Hamas in the first place.

    Netanyahu said they couldn't deal with the Palestinians while they were still divided. Now Hamas has ceded power in Gaza to the Palestinian authority, Israel comes up with more conditions. It is so obvious that they don't want negotiations and they don't want peace.

    Yes, that's clear. But it's also quite clear that it's the Zionists who need a peace settlement more than the Palestinians do. The Palestinians have time and location on their side. All they have to do is keep living and keep having children. In contrast, the Zionist entity cannot live without its German and US life support system, i.e. Collective Punishment of the German people - most of whom where not born in 1945.
