Spain is the correct side to go with. Lumpy pm’d me that he is backing Spain. He went on a date once, many years ago . With a girl . She was home schooled and didn’t have many friends . She is the love of his life . Shortly after the date her and her family feared for their safety and went into hiding aided by the fundie Catholic Church . He thinks she is still hiding in spain because her mother was teaching her Spanish and may have got Spanish citizenship .

I suspect that Young Student's interest in all this much more about trolling Dublin 4 than any genuine concern either way.
Bull dust, buddy, the guy is right, the silent majority stood up against those goons trying to make jobs for themselves.

Nobody takes D4 seriously pal, idiot who thinks he is anything other than a scrote who delights in trying and failing to create controversy.

It is both sides who messed it up. There was no mandate to declare independence and the crowd in charge was arseing around.Neither Madrid nor Barcelona handled the case well.
Anyhow- it will be all over after the December election. The indepence crowd is finished for a while.

The criminal actions of the Spanish police against peaceful Catalans put Madrid in the wrong, all unnecessary, this is what happens when democracy is held back.

Puigdemont had no mandate for a referendum. That puts him in the wrong as well.

Committee recommends flying Catalan flag over Dublin City Hall

Councillor proposed flying flag for one month in solidarity with Catalan people
The policy committee for Dublin City Council has recommended that the Catalan flag be flown over Dublin City Hall for a month-long period.
Councillors on the committee this morning voted seven to five in favour of flying the flag, known as the Estelada in the Catalan language.
The successful motion was put forward by People Before Profit councillor John Lyons, and will now progress to a vote at an upcoming full council meeting for final approval.
The exact wording of the motion is as follows: “In solidarity with our twin city of Barcelona this Council condemns the Spanish government’s repression and violence perpetrated on citizens exercising their democratic right to vote and as such, in an act of solidarity and in recognition of this universal right to democracy and self determination as established by international covenants, we agree to fly the Catalan flag over City Hall for one month.”
Disgraceful behaviour from the City Council of Dublin, will they show solidarity for the Catalans who support Unity by flying the Spanish Flag?

there are two Catalan flags.
One is for the Republic aand one is for the official Catalan province within Spain.
I'm guessing these idiots dont know the difference and will fly the latter.

Only 40% of Catalans voted in that trumped-up opinion-poll. It was boycotted by the 60% who are grown-up enough to realise that you can be Catalan & Spanish, and that true solidarity means sticking with your poorer provincial brethren even if you do contribute (marginally) more in taxes.

Look, whether DCC put up a flag is irrelevant and won’t further the cause of Catalan independence one inch, but what it says about DCC is that it’s being used by a far-Left cabal as some sort of mock-government, but more interested in play-pretend grown-up business (i.e. interfering in the internal affairs of a sovereign nation), than tackling the issues that are within their remit – homelessness, planning, transport, etc.

The Referendum result was illegal and would never stand up in any court in the world, maybe for NK.
As Illegal as our Mandate to secure independence in 1918.

What are you doing supporting the Dirts?

Well said Oscar, don't expect the scrotes in here to understand that kind of logic.
