Were old East Berlin's Fifty Shades of Grey meet Escalatormania.

Can we not have Airports designed to be less, cold, clinical & austere?

Perhaps they already exist - I'm not looking for the Ritz or Bewleys of Grafton Street but perhaps a little more warmth in the Design.

Please send any pics of warmer more user friendly Airports please.

Maybe TG has some from North Korea

The consumer-aviation website Skytrax has published its latest annual World Airport Awards, and for the fifth consecutive year, Singapore Changi International Airport took home the crown as the world's best airport.

Unfortunately, more and more national airports are being privatized - and private companies are all about cutting costs to maximize profit. Giving the nation a sense of itself and projecting that self image to the world is not part of their function. So, sadly, we can expect the race to the bottom to continue with airports - as well as everything else. I wonder what percentage of the workers at Dublin Airport are even Irish? The place becomes more and more alien by the day, as it is taken over by cheap immigrant labour.

    Cutting costs Timmy?

    Sommit wrong with that.?

The reason grunts like you Timmy, can do a bit of traaaavling is that costs were cut, a chara.

You don’t have to subsidize some fat kernt of a front of house ‘Manager’ with an oily set of chops and an false unctuous smile,or some overpaid cretin to do in two days what could be done in two hours.

Things have moved on,a chara from the days when only the professional classes could afford the week to the’little place’ in ‘Mollaga’ and the aircrew and ground staff gave off farts laced with fillet steak and Brussels pate.

Changed a chara, and for the better, the lifers and expenses sponges gotten rid of and real people doing twice as much in half the time.

Get a grip Timmy, next time you are flying to Birmingham or East Midlands.

No a chara, I mean people who are self motivated and ambitious who got the jobs because the were prepared to work, not spend most of their time arguing with management as to why they needed six people to do jobs that could be easily done by two.

Not fat cnunts who came in for a rest,a chara.

As I thought. You mean cheap immigrant labour who are so desperate they will slave away for minimum wage and live six to a room. You and your ilk are a cancer on Ireland.

The council gets private companies to do most of their work these days.

Most but not all. These guys were definitely council. I knew one of them. At least the private lads get in and get the job done asap.

Well, since they are immigrants on minimum wage and desperate not to get fired, I suppose they have to.

There's definitely a lot of truth in that Tadgh but you gotta admit the public sector milked the system here for decades. When that Kraut took over Aer Lingus I was working in the Airport at the time. He called people in and asked them what their jobs were. One of them keeled over and another was taken away in an Ambulance. No word of a lie.

Civil servants and loads of other cushy State jobs were par for the course here for years. There were institutions up and down the Country where the employees literally did nothing from one end of the week to the next and were very well paid to do it. I do agree though that Reform would've been better than privatisation in many cases.

Dont doubt it for a minute Milo, you see, that’s kind of the circle I can’t square.

People like poor Timmy seem to think that that’s fine, and yet they are blowing arse-chaff all over the gaff about the cost of stuff and wages.

If these goons did what they were paid for the costs would be far less and consequently money would go further.

cut out the waste.....cut out the waste....

This is absolute rubbish. Privatized companies make incredible savings by sacking Irish people and hiring cheap immigrant labour in their place, but they do not pass these savings on to their customers. You you think you pay less now for your bin collection than when the council did it?
