China and Ireland Pledge to Strengthen Dialogue and Cooperation
China has expressed its willingness to enhance dialogue with Ireland, build mutual trust, and address differences through constructive engagement. This commitment was articulated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his recent meeting with Taoiseach Micheál Martin in Dublin.

According to a statement from the Chinese foreign ministry, Mr. Wang emphasized China's readiness to collaborate with Ireland in promoting multipolarity and contributing to global peace, stability, and development.

The meeting took place at Government Buildings, where Mr. Wang was also received by Tánaiste Simon Harris. Discussions primarily focused on bilateral relations and exploring avenues for future cooperation.

Both sides reiterated the importance of maintaining open communication channels and fostering stronger ties to address global challenges together.

Ahead of the meeting, Mr Mr Martin said it "offers another opportunity to discuss strengthening relations between Ireland and China as well as global issues".

"China is now Ireland's largest trading partner in the Asia Pacific region," he added.

"At a time of growing global uncertainty, we need to work with all partners to effectively address our shared challenges.

"This includes securing a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine based on the principles of the UN Charter and working to sustain ceasefires in the Middle East and towards durable peace based on a two-state solution."
