
Fine Gael is set to launch a disciplinary process against Senator Martin Conway, who resigned from the parliamentary party yesterday after revealing that he had been arrested but did not notify party headquarters.
The Clare-based senator released a brief statement confirming that he was arrested on January 22 on O’Connell Street in Dublin.
"for being in an intoxicated state due to consumption of sleeping tablets and alcohol".
"I was detained at Store Street Garda Station and subsequently released without charge a number of hours later. This was not disclosed to the party," Mr Conway added.
