New Look to Withdraw from Irish Market, Putting 347 Jobs at Risk
Fashion retailer New Look has announced its decision to exit the Republic of Ireland, leaving approximately 347 employees facing potential redundancy.

The retailer’s Irish division, New Look Retailers (Ireland) Ltd, entered liquidation on Thursday, marking the end of its presence in the country following prolonged financial struggles and challenging market conditions.

Following the appointment of provisional liquidators by the High Court, staff were informed immediately, with further discussions planned in the coming days.

In a statement, the company cited a difficult and unpredictable trading environment as a key factor behind the decision.

"We have adapted to this evolving landscape by investing in our product proposition and digital offer. However, due to increasingly volatile trading conditions, we needed to accelerate our existing plans, including a review of our Irish operations," the statement read.
The outcome of that review determined that continuing operations in Ireland was no longer financially viable.

Employee Consultation Process Begins

The decision will not affect New Look’s UK operations, where the company will continue to run 344 stores and its online business.

Meanwhile, a 30-day consultation process will begin for Irish staff, who work across the retailer’s 26-store network in locations such as Dublin, Cork, Galway, Wicklow, and Letterkenny, Co. Donegal. Most stores employ between 12 and 13 staff members.

New Look has confirmed that all Irish stores will close temporarily before reopening later in the month for a clearance sale.
