Norwegian artist EMMY, aged 24, will take the stage for Ireland tonight at the second semi-final of the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, joined by competitors from Israel and other nations.
EMMY’s song, Laika Party, a vibrant homage to the Russian space dog, earned her the chance to represent Ireland after she collaborated with an Irish songwriter at a music camp.
The 69th Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, set for Saturday, has 26 slots up for grabs. Six are reserved for the “Big Five” countries and the host nation, Switzerland, who automatically qualify. Following Tuesday’s first semi-final, where ten acts secured their places, tonight’s 16 performers will compete for the remaining ten spots. After all performances, voting opens, with participating countries casting votes to send ten acts to the Grand Final.
In Saturday’s final, qualifiers will compete against acts like Sweden’s Kaj, performing Bara Bada Bastu about Nordic sauna culture, Ukraine’s Ziferblat with Bird Of Pray, and Estonia’s Tommy Cash with Espresso Macchiato. Switzerland, the reigning champions and hosts, will also perform, guaranteed a slot after Nemo’s victory last year.
Tune in to the Eurovision Song Contest second semi-final tonight, Thursday, 15 May, live on BBC One NI and RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player from 8pm.
